Coffee Enthused is a free weekly newsletter for people who care about their morning cup. It goes out every Thursday morning. About ten things worth knowing, and nothing that’s only there to fill space.

Who it’s for

Two kinds of reader, and that’s on purpose.

The first owns a grinder and a scale. A V60, a Chemex, a portafilter, maybe a French press on a slow morning. If that’s you, most of an issue is aimed squarely at you.

The second cares about their coffee and has no intention of doing a manual pour-over. Pods, a drip machine, a bean-to-cup that does it all at the push of a button. That reader gets written for too, in one or two entries every single issue.

Most coffee writing picks one of those two and quietly looks down on the other. We don’t. A person who’s happy with a Nespresso and wants it to taste better is a coffee enthusiast. They just don’t own a scale.

What’s in an issue

Every issue opens with Origin of the Month. One producing country at a time, including when its harvest actually lands on shelves, so you can buy on more than the roast date.

After that, nine more entries. New gear and honest takes on it, brewing technique you can test tomorrow morning, industry news that changes what you buy, roaster stories, and whatever the coffee internet is arguing about that week.

Each one is a link and a short paragraph. You can read the whole thing in a few minutes and go deeper on the two that interest you.

Where it’s written from

Coffee Enthused is a newer newsletter. The goal is to build a community of like-minded coffee enthusiasts over the coming years, one Thursday at a time.

Every issue is researched from primary sources. Roaster and manufacturer announcements, the SCA, published studies, and the coffee subreddits where people are actually testing things on their own counters. When a claim comes from one person’s kitchen rather than a lab, it says so.
